Previously, we put a guide on why your electric skateboard won't turn on. In this article, we will focus more on charging. Anything you want to do with an electric skateboard won't be possible if it can't be charged and there is no power for any movement. What could you do if your electric skateboard won't charge?

To make the problems less complicated, we will mainly describe 6 situations when an electric skateboard won't charge.

What could you do if your electric skateboard won't charge?

electric skateboard battery

Case 1:

If this describes your situation:

When the charger is connected to the skateboard, the charger indicator does not light up.

Possible reasons for this:

  1. The charger is defective. In this case, please get in touch with us to replace the charger.
  2. Poor contact due to a loose socket. In this case, try to charge the board with a different socket.

Case 2:

If this describes your situation:

During charging, the charger indicator flashes a green light. The indicator light of the mainboard is on for two seconds and then goes off, accompanied by a beeping sound.

Possible reasons for this:

The battery is defective. In this case, please get in touch with us to replace the battery.

Case 3:

If this describes your situation:

During charging, the charger indicator flashes a green light. Pressing the power button or rotating the motors won't turn on the skateboard.

Possible reasons for this:

The mainboard or the battery is broken due to water damage. To determine which part is broken, you need:

  1. Measure battery voltage. If the voltage is normal (41V-42V), the mainboard is broken. If the voltage is not normal (below 41.5V), both the mainboard and battery are broken.
  2. If you are not able to measure battery voltage, take a high-resolution picture of the mainboard to see if there are water traces and whether the battery has water damage or not.

Case 4:

If this describes your situation:

During charging, the charger indicator flashes a green light and continues to show a green light when removing the independent battery pack.

Possible reasons for this:

The mainboard or the battery is broken due to water damage. To determine which part is broken, you need:

  1. If your skateboard has travelled more than a few kilometers, and the battery is not 100%, then the battery is broken.
  2. If the battery is 100%, check whether the battery voltage is normal or not (41V-42V).

Case 5:

If this describes your situation:

During charging, the charger indicator flashes a green light but changes to a red light when removing the independent battery pack. Pressing the power button or rotating the motors won't turn on the skateboard.

Possible reasons for this:

Continue to charge the battery until the indicating light of the charger shows a green light, and then measure the battery voltage to check whether it's normal or not.

  1. If the battery voltage is normal (41v-42v), the mainboard is defective.
  2. If the battery voltage is not normal (below 41.5v), the mainboard and the battery are reflective.

Case 6:

If this describes your situation:

When you connect the charger to the skateboard, the charging indicator turns red, then green again, with a beeping sound.

Possible reasons for this:

In this case, the battery is broken and needs to be replaced.

As shown in the 6 mains situations, the reason why an electric skateboard won't charge is mostly due to a defective battery. If you find that none of the cases describes your situation, you can send us a video following the steps below:

  1. Show us if there's a beeping sound while connecting the board with power, then show us both the indicator of the charger and the skateboard,
  2. Rotate both the motors manually while connecting the board with power, show us if there's a beeping sound,
  3. Disconnect the battery off the skateboard, charge the battery only, show us the indicator of the charger,
  4. Use 60V-200V range voltmeter to test the DCV of the fully charged battery, show us the voltage, please disconnect the power while you test the voltage.
