Electric skateboards are everywhere, and you can thank the sudden boom in rideable companies for that. Boosted Boards leads the charge, but it’s not the only player in the market.

Today we will be looking at the Possway Lynx and Tynee Ultra. You will find out which belt drive electric skateboard under $1000 you should choose.

Motors, Top Speed and Hill Climbing

Possway Lynx uses 2700W powerful belt motors, which provide an impressive max speed of 32mph / 52kph.

And the Tynee Ultra is running dual 875W belt-drive motors and it’s specced to get a top speed of 30mph (48kph).

As for hill climbing, Tynee claims you’ll be able to get up 25-30% hill grades and Possay Lynx is 48%.

Battery and Range

Now let’s go to the battery and range. Tynee Ultra uses the 12S2P Molicel battery. Tynee Board Ultra has a marketed range of 23 miles/37 km and a max speed of 30mph / 48kph.

Possway Lynx equips with a 12S2P Sumsang 21700 40T battery, which you will get up to 26 miles / 42 km range and a max speed of 32mph/52kph.

Samsung cell and Molicell are both reliable and high quality, can't say which is better, but in terms of brand recognition, obviously, Samsung will be more famous.

Tynee claims their waterproof rating is IPX6, and Possway Lynx is IP65, but please note that there's no electric skateboard is completely waterproof, they are just water-resistant. Water-resistant means that electric skateboards won’t let water in easily. So if you drive on a wet road your board should not break. But if you skate over puddles or even submerge your board into the water there is a high likelihood that water will get to electric parts.

ESC, Acceleration and Braking

The Tynee Ultra and Possway Lynx use the great ESC. The acceleration is punchy yet smooth and the brakes are nice and firm bringing you to a stop quickly and safely. And the remote has 4 speed modes, reverse and cruise control.

The difference is that Possway's remote can adjust the acceleration and brake strength.

And there is a new feature is added to it– Pause mode.

After 4 seconds of no riding, Possway Lynx will automatically enter the Pause mode that keeps your board locked, providing extra safety.

Wheels

Tynee Board Ultra is available for both street wheels and Cloudwheels. The board uses your typical street wheels in 90 MM x 62 MM with a 78 A durometer and is also compatible with 105 MM Cloudwheels.

And the standard factory configuration of the Possway lynx is 2-in-1. you can experience 105mm wheels and 90mm wheels all at once. 

And they have released new 105mm wheels called starry wheels.  They can be lighted up when you ride, you'll have to buy them extra yourself if you need them. If you ride at night a lot, I think you can buy a set of starry wheels.

Final thoughts

Both of them were founded around the same time, and they are both emerging brands in the electric skateboard market, but if you do a search online, you can find both have great reputations on the web and a lot of praise for their customer service.

If you live in an area with more hills around it, you can Possway Lynx. It's more powerful and can conquer steeper roads.

If you ride at night a lot, you can go for Possway Lynx, it equips a pair of Shredlight, you don't need to pay extra money. and you also can get the Starry wheels for your interest.

Lynx is only $80 more than Ultra, but you get more range, higher top speed, and a sheredlight kit.
